Ruby Smith Obituary
Ruby Smith, daughter of Mabel Johnson and James Ivor Smith, was born in Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies, on March 6, 1933, and passed away in Tampa, Florida on August 19, 2022.
Ruby migrated to the USA in 1965. Ruby's first career was a seamstress in Jamaica, West Indies with one of Jamaica's famous fashion designers Flossie Thomas.
While working in New York to support her daughter, Ruby enrolled in college and began her pursuit to become a nurse. After graduating, she worked in Bronx Lebanon Hospital and from there she went to work at Fort Triumph Nursing Home and retired after working there for 37 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Leonie Buchanan, brother Barrington Smith, and nieces, Angela, Doreen, Arlene, Margaret, and nephew Adrian.
