Ruby R. Smoot

Ruby R. Smoot, 97, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on July 30, 2025. She was born on August 11, 1928 in West Virginia to Warner and Cindy (Osburn) Chapman. She was a "coal Miner's daughter" Ruby was a hotel housekeeper for many years. She was a "stay at home momma", raising 13 kids. She was known as the "best cook ever", making everything from scratch; including her famous fudge, fried chicken, biscuits and gravy. She enjoyed wintering in Naples, Florida and collecting dolls and angels.

Ruby is survived by her children, Kenneth (Mary), Marcella Amerson, Mark Smoot, Dave Smoot, Tammy (Chris) Frampton Smoot and Joyce (Rich) McGee; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chooch"; parents; and children, Patricia, Richard, Terry, Chuck, Connie, Christina and Glenna; and grandchildren, Andy, Corey, Kimberly, Chad, Chucky, Connie and Andrea.

Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, 440 South Coy Road, on Tuesday, August 5 from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 6 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.
