Ruby Stone Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home on Dec. 4, 2025.
Ruby Stone, age 95, left this world for Heaven on December 1, 2025, at Redbanks Nursing Home.

Born on March 15, 1930, in Livingston County, KY, Ruby was the daughter of Charley and Denzil Riley and was of the Pentecostal faith. She worked for Gamco Products for over 20 years, but her true passions were cooking and baking; she even ran her own baking business well after retirement. Many people in her community knew her as the "Pie Lady", but she was also celebrated for baking and decorating birthday cakes, wedding cakes, cookies, candies, and cooking up her delicious chicken and dumplings recipe. An avid photographer, Ruby had a dark room in her home for developing her own photographs and won several amateur awards in the annual Pennyrile Forest State Park Photography Contest nearly every time she entered. For many years, Ruby and her husband supported the Musical Servants with picnic lunches, equipment management, practice venues, and travel accommodations as they blessed the tri-state area churches with gospel music. Ruby was also awarded the honor of Kentucky Colonel by the state.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her dear husband of over 60 years, Ernest Berton Stone and three siblings: Carson Riley, Charles Riley, and Naomi Owens.

Ruby is survived by her daughter Karen Carter, her son-in-law Rick Carter, her grandchildren Amanda Murray and Richard Carter, her beloved great-grandchild Clara Murray, and two siblings Ralph "Jack" Riley and Linda Moore, and nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Ruby's Life Celebration from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson, KY.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice, 2410 S. Green St., Henderson, KY, 42420.

Arrangements entrusted to Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home, A Life Celebration® Home, online condolences may be made at www.bentongluntandtappfuneralhome.com.
