Ruby S. Tapp, 95, Johnson City, died Monday, June 16, 2025, at the residence of her son, Beryl, in Mount Carmel.

Ruby was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Toy Lee and Estella Hodges Saylor.

Ruby was a 1948 graduate of Science Hill High School.

She worked for many years as a Seamstress, primarily at H.I.S. Industries, retiring in 2010.

Ruby was a longtime member of the former Walnut Street Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Patrick Hirahm Tapp, in 2016, a son, Jerry Dale Tapp, in 2004, siblings, Clarence Saylor, Ellen Onks, Toy Lee Saylor, Jr., E.D. Saylor, and an infant brother.

Ruby is survived by a son, Beryl Lynn Tapp, Mount Carmel; her daughter, Patricia Estella Starbird, Johnson City; daughter-in-law, Debbie Tapp, Johnson City; brother, Wayne Saylor and wife Geneva, Hickory, NC; two grandchildren, Jessica Gagne and husband Jake, Mount Carmel, Kelley Broyles and husband Shannon, Johnson City; two great-grandchildren, Jade Gagne, Mount Carmel, Shane Mann, Johnson City; several nieces and nephews, including, special nephew Gary Manouelien and wife Christy.

The service will be conducted Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 7:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Ruby's son Beryl bringing the eulogy.

The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.

Graveside committal service will be Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 10:00 A.M., in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Those planning to attend are to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 A.M. Thursday.
