Melody Gay Moore, 55 of Lubbock, departed this life on Monday, July 3, 2023. Celebration of life Service will be held Friday, July 14, 2023, at. 11 a.m. at Monterey Church of Christ. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Victory In Praise from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Melody Gay Moore was the fifth of six children born to Minnie Adams and the late Clarence Bailey. These six children connected with their eldest sister, Janet Mackey, to make their union complete and not easily broken. Melody was born and grew up in Lubbock, TX. She graduated from Dunbar High School Class of '86. Melody's personality of Joy and Classy started with her as a little child and followed her to the end of her life. Melody was blessed with three beautiful children Akeeda Hunt, Lakeitha Wilson (Mark Wilson), and Devon Dixon (Kortez Dixon). In June 1990, Melody met Stevone (Supt. Chris Moore) and connected a third daughter, Brittanie Walker-Moore to the Moore Bunch. Melody and Chris covenanted together in wedlock in 1992 and remained married for 32 years. After five years into the marriage, Melody returned to her spiritual roots gained under the ministry of the late Superintendent Charles Tanner of the Hope Deliverance Ministry, in which place Minnie (mom) admonished all seven of her children to love the Lord. According to this plan, God designed Melody to be a great: daughter, sister, friend, student, mother, wife, grandmother, aunt, cousin, niece, coworker, innovator, leader, confidant, coach, encourager, and woman of God on planet earth. "Melody was the Rays that Brightened every person's heart that she met. Melody's professional career started at Job Court in Indiana and ended at Lubbock ISD in which she connected, encouraged, and inspired the staff and children both in the hallways greeting everyone and in the classroom. Melody was also a professional beautician and as a student she entered a hair show competition in three distinct categories as a student and placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in three different professional categories. This career goal led Melody to connect with Tracey Basey and Lisa Goodner who became Trinity 3-5-7, so they thought. Melody drew friends everywhere she went, and she is the only person we know that could have more than one best friend and they all got along. In addition, Melody received a Business Administration Certificate from VISTA College with a 4.0 GPA. Melody's spiritual life started in 1997 at the New Generation Holiness Church in Garland, TX under the tutelage of Pastor Cornelius Yates and First Lady Brenda Yates. This platform was the launching pad that prompted Melody to be the Praiser, Leader, Worship Leader, Prayer Warrior, and First Lady that Victory In Praise has so graciously enjoyed for over 20 years. Melody led this congregation in many capacities to start the 1st Back2School Funfest in East Lubbock, VIP Fashion Shows, VIP Prayer Conference, First Lady Connector, Church Secretary, Praise Team Leader, Youth Leader, VIP Visionary Leader, Landscaper, Janitor, Server, Transportation Supporter, Biggest Supporter of her Husband/Pastor Vision, and much more… Lastly, Melody was the biggest, loudest, toughest, fanatic fan and supporter of her children and grandchildren. All referees knew better not to cheat the kids and, in her words, "Come on ref! Let the kids play!" Wow! We will miss First Lady Melody Moore's physical presence, but her spirit will forever be with us. So, PUSH Forward, your labor unto God is not in vain. Shout! Praise the Lord, Everybody! She is preceded in death by her father, Clarence Bailey; two sisters, Dorothy L. Brown and Janet Mackey; two nieces, April Bailey and Ashley Hawkins. She leaves to cherish her memory; her husband, Pastor Christopher S. Moore; her mother, Minnie Adams; her daughters, Akeeda Hunt, Lakeitha Wilson, Brittanie Walker-Moore; Jamila Blount (goddaughter), and Kamarla Kindred (Tyler Wright, Jr.) "TJ"; her son, Devon Dixon; her sisters, Joyce Bailey, Mickie Bailey, and Nina White; her brothers, Don E. Bailey (Dedra) and Jerry Bailey; her grandchildren, Zykeya Hunt, Za'Riah Hunt, Zanayah Hunt, Kyng Doss, Deveon Dixon, Aria Dixon, and Messiah Taylor; her nieces, LaToyia Bailey Duffy, Brittanie Compton, Natasha D. Bailey, Tia Walker, alexis Parsons, Ashantee Dawson, and Lauren Phillips; her nephews, Lucious Sican, Anthony Bailey, Jercan Bailey, Dantayan Brown, Don Bailey, Jr., and Jerry Bailey, II; a host of other relatives and friends.
