Ruby Jeanette "Jan" Steele Thomas , 78 of Searcy Arkansas, peacefully went Home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2026. God is welcoming her with open arms. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Jan was born on October 3, 1947 in
Bradford, Arkansas, the fifth child of the late George and Wilma Piker Steele. Jan was a woman of strong faith in the Lord. She was a long-time employee of Wal-mart.
Jan was such a beautiful and talented woman. Among the talents that she mastered was her poetry, cooking and canning, gardening both vegetables and flowers. She received many rewards for her poetry. Her cooking was enjoyed by all who came by to visit. She made sure you never went away hungry. We all had our favorite dish that she would prepare. Jan and her husband Ted, together, worked a large beautiful garden each year with maximum yield that they generously shared with family, friends and neighbors. Jan would also send you on your way with a jar or two of her home canned vegetables from the garden.
Jan also had a special relationship and fed many wild animals on her property and her friend "Donkey" that she looked after daily.
Jan enjoyed traveling with her husband Ted. They enjoyed Mountain View and Eureka Springs often and loved the "festive" atmosphere there.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents George and Wilma Steele, two brothers, Bill and Kenny Steele, four nephews, Dwayne, David, Randy and Joseph Steele.
Jan is survived by her husband Ted, Four sons: Dean Biram (Cindy) of Hensley, AR, David Biram (Kristy) of Houston, AR, Michael Thomas and Scott Thomas of
