Ruby Wood Watts, 97, of Fort Oglethorpe went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 7, 2025. She was born on November 15, 1928 in Cedar Bluff, Alabama to the late William Burdette Wood and Leslie Adams Wood. Ruby was the oldest living member of Cedar Bluff High School Class of 1947. She taught her daughters when to cry, laugh and stand strong. Mrs. Watts cherished family gatherings the most and never wanted to be a burden to others. She was an amateur ham radio operator and skilled seamstress. Ruby's Bible was never far away from her. Her favorite outdoor activities were fishing and her riding lawnmower. She will be missed for her kindness and always being there for others.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Loy Watts who passed away in 2001; sisters, Jean Morrison, Sybil Stepps, Lynda Wynn and brother, William "Bill" Wood.

Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn (WG) Cordell and Melanie (Stephen) Coakley; sister, Susan Hall; grandchildren, Brian Coakley and Lauren Coakley; great-grandchildren, Emmett Weatherford and Ruby Weatherford; along with several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, December 10th at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 10-12:30 PM Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, 3239 Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia 30742.

A reception will follow the service at Ready Set Sew, 3444 Ringgold Road, Chattanooga, TN 37412. Please call 423-413-7512 if directions are needed.
