Ruby Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miller & Hill The Funeral Directors - Alexandria on Jan. 24, 2026.
Ruby Jean Bobb Williams, lovingly known as "R Jean" or "Muff," was a resilient pillar of strength, a beacon of love and generosity in Boyce, Louisiana. Born on December 12, 1935, to Mattie Watkins Bobb and Emmanuel Bobb, Sr. in Bermuda, Louisiana, Ruby lived a rich, fulfilling life until January 20, 2026, leaving behind an indelible legacy.

Ruby was an embodiment of the adage, "Let the works I've done speak for me." She was a reliable matriarch, last of her siblings to pass, and a dedicated educator in the Early Childhood Head Start Program, shaping the future of many young minds. Her resilience shone brightly in her passion for helping others. She would often adorn the neighborhood with her generosity, purchasing clothing for the less fortunate during sales and cooking sumptuous meals for all. Ruby's heart was a haven for her loved ones, filled especially with fondness for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, who were the apples of her eye.

Ruby's life was a continuous celebration. She loved flowers and found joy in decorating for weddings and events. In her free time, she would immerse herself in word puzzle books or crochet intricate patterns, all the while humming tunes from her days in the church choir. Her delicious fruit preserves were renowned throughout the neighborhood, a sweet testament to her nurturing spirit.

As we commemorate her life in hues of her favorite pink and white, we remember her words, "If I can help someone along the way, then my living won't be in vain." Ruby's life was indeed not in vain, as her impact resounds in the hearts of her family and the many lives she touched.

Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 10:00 am at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church located at 11-16th & Day Streets, Alexandria, Louisiana, 71301. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the same location. Final committal rites will take place at St. Matthew Baptist Church Cemetery, 5605 Old Boyce Rd, Boyce, Louisiana, 71409.
