The heavens gained a star on February 6, 2023. Ruchir Sud, of Bloomfield Hills, MI, passed away at the age of 34. He proved to be a true hero, staying strong and resilient to the very end. He remained a constant to his family and friends, never missing a momentous occasion and cherishing every precious moment with his loved ones.
Ruchir was born on August 19, 1988. He held a special and unique place in our family as the only son to his parents, Suneel and Renu Sud. From the very beginning, Ruchir was a kind, caring and sweet boy whose loyalty to his parents was eternal. His family devotion also extended to his grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins with whom he shared his formative years as a young boy. Ruchir was born in India and shortly thereafter moved to Michigan when he was five years old. He lived in a shared household with his elder girl cousins (Gunjan, Gauri, Sunali, and Radhika) on his father's side. He was in every way a brother to them and, similarly, they were sisters to him. As the baby brother, he received all the love and good-natured teasing that accompanies that role. As he got older, he would recall those moments with both bashfulness and pride.
Though he grew up primarily in the United States, he remained incredibly close to his family in India. He would regularly talk to his nanima (maternal grandmother), his aunts and uncles, and his younger cousins (Shivanshi, Shudhata, Eesh, and Dev). He took on the role of a protector and would watch out for them, even from afar.
As Ruchir grew into his teens and early adulthood, he developed a curiosity about the world and took on many different hobbies, ranging from soccer and tennis to improv comedy. He was always full of ideas and wanted to learn about everything happening in the world at all times. Much like his parents, though, Ruchir's defining characteristic was his gentleness. Always kind and soft spoken, he could interact with the elderly and small children and make them equally at ease. He also showed great devotion to God as an active member of the Nirankari mission as well as a learner of other spiritual faiths.
After completing high school, Ruchir attended Wayne State University and earned a BS degree in Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain Management. Ruchir had many friends, but never lost his connection to his parents during those years. Upon graduation from college, he pursued his love of cars and took a position in the Chrysler Corporation. Ruchir flourished in his role there and decided to deepen his knowledge and expertise by gaining an MS degree in Industrial Engineering. As a result, he earned the position of Purchasing Senior Buyer of North America Battery Programs. Ruchir was recognized for his accomplishments by being awarded as one of the "30 under 30" Rising in Supply Chain Stars in 2016.
Ruchir is survived by his parents, extended family, and his beloved canine companion Rehmat, also known as Ray Ray. He will be missed dearly.
Visitation Thursday 11:30 am until the 12:30 pm Funeral Service. A private cremation will take place.
