Rudolph Moreira Obituary
Indian Hill - Brilliant surgeon and devoted father, Rudolph Moreira, M.D., 78, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on May 26, 2021. Dr. Moreira showed incredible courage throughout his long battle with cancer and stayed strong until the very end.
Dr. Rudolph Moreira was born on May 18, 1943, in Cochabamba, Bolivia, to the late Rodolfo and Blanca Moreira. He dedicated his entire life to the practice of medicine and received his medical degree from the Universidad Mayor de San Simón in Cochabamba, Bolivia. At the young age of 26, Dr. Moreira bravely left his hometown and came to the United States of America to pursue his dream of becoming a surgeon and providing a better life for his family. Dr. Moreira completed his internship at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio, and his surgical residency at The Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati. In 1975, he began his private practice career by joining Drs. Gottesman, Pescovitz, and Amongero. Over the next 40 years, Dr. Moreira served countless patients in the Cincinnati area and was widely recognized as a talented and skilled general and vascular surgeon.
Affectionately known as Rudy to loved ones, he was a devoted father and provider for his family. Nothing was more important to him than his children, grandchildren, and beloved pets. Rudy was a talented cook and found great joy in feeding his family. He was also an avid soccer fan and car aficionado.
Rudy is survived by his children: Katheryn Moreira MD, Sandra (Robert Malinzak MD) Moreira MD, Andrew (Jamie) Moreira, Logan Moreira, and Emily Moreira; stepchildren: Benjamin Mills and Kelly Mills; grandchildren: Mackenzie and Jacob Malinzak; brothers: Raul, Luis and Mark Moreira; nephews: Marco and Moises Moreira and his beloved cats and dogs.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday June 13, 2021, from 1-3pm at The Manor House, 7440 Mason Montgomery Rd, Mason, OH 45040.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Cincinnati Cancer Advisors at www.cincinnaticanceradvisors.org or Cincinnati Animal CARE Humane Society at cincinnatianimalcare.org. Online guest book at www.strawserfuneralhome.com

Rudy operated on me and saved my life. But he was more than my doctor, he was my wife’s exhusband. When it was decided I needed an operation, I asked my wife, Dr. Nora Moreira who was the best surgeon to do the surgery? She responded immediately with “my ex husband, Rudy. She was correct and Rudy and I became friends over the years. We spent time together at family outing with his and Nora’s children and Grandchildren. He was a good friend in addition to being a lifesaving surgeon.
