Rudolph "Rudy" Taborn

Rudolph "Rudy" Taborn, 97, of Sadorus and formerly of Champaign, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, surrounded by family and reunited with the love of his life. Rudy was born July 5, 1928 at Carrier Mills, the son of Rueben and Alice Mae (Wooten) Taborn. He married Rosemary Carpenter on March 1, 1955 at Marshall, IL She preceded him in death on July 10, 2022. He is survived by his loving daughter, Robin Styan (Greg) of Sadorus; grandchildren, John Rudolph of Champaign, Kelli Harward (Chris) of San Antonio, Texas and six great-grandchildren.

Rudy started his career as an Electrician's Mate in the U S Navy during the Korean War on the USS Fulton. He finished his career as a facility manager for the Army Corps of Engineers Research Lab in Champaign. Rudy continued to work independently as an HVAC technician.

Rudy was a longtime member of Quest United Methodist Church: A Community of Grace. As a devoted prayer warrior, Rudy often said that God had been with him all of his life. He loved family, country music, playing guitar, going to Texas for the winter and most of all he loved helping people.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, December 20 at Quest United Methodist Church: A Community of Grace, 2004 Philo Road, Urbana. Masonic Rites by Urbana Masonic Lodge #157 and Military Rites by the St. Joseph American Legion Post #634 will be performed at the service. Memorial Contributions:
