Rufus Dye, 72, was born in Chester, South Carolina on November 13,1950 to James Robert Dye and Memphis Dye. He received his wings on Friday, August 25, 2023, in Bossier City, Louisiana. He had two children, Margaret Jones of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Sheldon Jones and wife, Angela of Ruston, Louisiana. He was married to Helen Dye for over forty years. He has seven grandchildren, Ken'Toniece Jones Price, Myonica Jones, Jo'Vodrick Carter, Zachary Jones, Gabriel Jones, Devin Jones, and Tatiana Jones. He also has seven great-grandchildren. Rufus also leaves behind two brothers, Paul Dye of Chester, South Carolina, and Leslie Dye of  Charlotte, North Carolina, and sister Terri Dye Massey and husband, John of Chester, South Carolina, all to cherish him in memories. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Dye.

 

Rufus loved music and loved to fish. He also enjoyed working on vehicles. He was a proud member of the United States Army, who served in the Vietnam and The Gulf War. He retired after 20 plus years of service. After retiring he continued his career as a truck driver working for American Eagle Trucking. Rufus had a big heart and had a giving soul, Rufus loved his K-9 companion, Smokie. He was a father, husband, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Rufus will be missed, but his laughter will not be soon forgotten.

 

The family would like to thank everyone for the words of comfort, flowers, and support in this difficult time. Also, a special thanks to Willis-Knighton Bossier for caring for our loved one in his last days.

 

A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Round Grove Cemetery, 2869 Round Grove Ln., Shreveport, Louisiana at 10:00 a.m. A visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Elder David Stutson.
