Rupert Baker Obituary

Mr. Rupert Baker, affectionately known as "Rue" and "Sheppy," was born on September 5, 1942, in Harry Watch, Manchester, Jamaica, to the late Charles Baker and Beryl Young Baker. He peacefully departed this life on March 9, 2026, at his home in Jacksonville Florida.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and brothers; Sterling and Colin Baker.

Rupert was educated in the Harry Watch school district in Manchester, Jamaica. He later became known as a master of many trades. Throughout his life he owned his own businesses and also worked as a skilled carpenter and butcher, providing for his family through hard work and dedication.

On March 29, 1997, he married Ms. Millicent Donaldson, and their union was blessed with two children. Rupert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who deeply cherished his family.

A man of strong faith, Rupert loved the Lord and enjoyed listening to gospel music. One of his favorite hymns was "It Is Well With My Soul." He was known for his humility, kindness, and warm spirit. Rupert had an infectious sense of humor and a remarkable ability to make others smile. Whether through a joke, a bright smile, or simply his presence, he had a special way of lighting up every room he entered.

Rupert immigrated to the United States in 2013 but never forgot his beloved home in Jamaica. He remained proud of his roots and carried his culture and love for family wherever he went.

He will always be remembered for his genuine heart, caring nature, and deep love for his family. Rupert was more than just funny-he was compassionate, supportive, and full of life. A true family man, he showed his love through laughter, encouragement, and countless unforgettable moments. His warmth made people feel welcome, and his humor turned ordinary days into extraordinary memories.

Although he is no longer with us, the joy he shared, the love he gave, and the laughter he inspired will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Rupert leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and laughter that will never be forgotten.

He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Millicent Baker; mother-in-law Martha Edwards; son Andrew Baker (Maxine); daughters Angela Phillips-Dean (Melvin) and Sandra Basco (Tony).

He also leaves his cherished grandchildren: Andrae Phillips, Samantha Phillips, Nichola Basco, Melkayla Dean, and Renee Price; and great-grandchildren Dylan and Nia-Shae.

He is survived by his sisters Ersentia Dacas, Joyce Stanford, and Marva Baker; sisters-in-law Norma, Verna, Audrey, Perline, Dorothy, and Margaret; brothers-in-law Radlin and Edgar, along with a host of other relatives and dear friends
