Ruperto de los Reyes passed away peacefully on May 15, 2023, surrounded by his family in New Bern, NC at the age of 96.
Ruperto was born in Santiago, Chile on April 1, 1927. He was very proud to have become a Naturalized citizen of the US. He moved his young family to America to find a better political environment than his native country.
He leaves behind a loving family daughter, Mary Laury DeMarco ( husband George), and daughter Violet Trout (husband Ken), son Rupert de los Reyes (wife Karen), and son-in-law George Orlosky.
Grandchildren - Jennifer Storm (husband Jameson, twins Camila and Cruz), Melissa Burch (husband Jonathan, daughter Olivia), Kenny Trout, Danielle de los Reyes, Alison Coggins (husband Matthew, son Weston), Nicholas Orlosky (wife Courtney, sons Anson and Cooper, daughter Josie), Ryan Orlosky.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Violeta de los Reyes, daughter, Gloria Orlosky, and grandson Keith Persico.
Ruperto loved life and lived it to the fullest. His most prized accomplishment was his "familia" and how it grew. He loved how his four children gifted him with grandchildren and great-grand kids.
His other loves were soccer, (played professionally and also coached young kids) and horse racing. He always found time to enjoy the race tracks. He loved the beach and took his young family on beach destinations. He also loved to travel and explore and passed all these loves to his children.
Ruperto was an avid reader and always loved history and current events. He was always described as a charming man with a great personality, a flirtatious smile, and a warm heart.
If you asked how he was feeling, his response, "with the tip of my fingers."
Dad, "Tatita", you will be greatly missed by your "familia".
A celebration of life will be planned by the family for a later date.
