Chris “Russ” Christensen

August 4, 1930 – August 30, 2025

Chris “Russ” passed away on August 30, 2025 at the age of 95. Russ was born to Chris and Ann Christensen on August 8, 1930 on the homestead his father claimed on the Cheyenne River Road in Niobrara County. He lived on the homestead all of his life except for the two years he served in the Army. He met his wife Ruth (McGurk) Christensen while they both were serving in the Army.

Ruth M. Christensen

November 9, 1924 – January 17, 20214

Ruth passed away on January 17, 2014 at the age of 89. Ruth was born to Nathanial Orr McGurk and Louise (Dinkle) McGurk on November 9, 1924 in Patterson, New Jersey where she lived until she went to Nursing School and then into the Army.

Russ and Ruth were married September 5, 1953 and were together for 60 years and raised 3 sons: Chris Michael, Thomas Joseph, and William (Bill) Russell Christensen.

Russ and Ruth are survived by their sons Tom (Deb) Christensen and Bill (Betty) Christensen and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Russ and Ruth are preceded in death by their parents, son Chris, brother Fred Christensen, sisters Jean (Christensen) Freeman, Doris (McGurk) Lovenduskie and nieces and nephews.
