Russell Coyle, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 11, 2025.
Rusty, longtime resident of Jamestown, passed away at the hospital on November 14, 2025, at the age of 67 surrounded by family.

A man of quiet strength and simple joys, he spent his days doing what he loved most-being outdoors, fishing at dawn and hunting through the turning seasons with friends and family.

He devoted 33 years of dedicated service to the Sierra Northern Railway, where his strong work ethic, steady hands, and good humor earned the respect of all who worked beside him. Even after retirement, he carried with him the same reliability and grit that defined his career.

His greatest joy in his later years was the simple routine he shared with his loyal dog, Rosie-early morning drives along familiar backroads, quiet moments watching the sun rise, and unhurried days spent together exploring the world at their own pace. The two were inseparable, sharing countless miles visiting family and friends and quiet moments together. Those peaceful hours with Rosie brought companionship, and a happiness he treasured deeply.

Rusty will be remembered for his warm smile, easy laugh, and the stories he loved to tell. He touched many lives just by being himself. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his unwavering loyalty to the people he cared for, and the countless stories-many beginning at the water's edge or deep in the woods-that will be told for years to come. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the memories he leaves behind.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Russell Coyle.

He is survived by his daughter, LaDora Coyle of Morgan Hill, Mother. Nancy Coyle of Jamestown, sister Sharon (Byron) Johnson of Sonora, sister Donna (John) Valentine of Copperopolis, sister Carolyn Ponder of Columbia, and bother Ronnie (Amanda) Coyle of Columbia, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
