Russell William "Rusty" Duncan III

Russell(Rusty) William Duncan III, age 68, passed away peacefully on March 10th at his home. Rusty was born to the late Russell William(Billy) Duncan Junior and Sophia Ann McCall Duncan. He is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Debra, of 44 years and his children; Sophia Anne Duncan of Greenville, NC, Laura Michelle Duncan of Chocowinity, NC, and John Warren Duncan of Red Springs, NC. along with his mother, Sophia and sister Jenny Lynn Scott of Lumberton, NC.
Rusty was a 1974 graduate of Red Springs High School and went on to attend Catawba College where he earned a degree in Health & Physical Education. Rusty later obtained a Masters degree in Guidance, Educational Administration, and became a Licensed Professional Counselor.
Rusty worked alongside his father off and on at Duncan Concrete. He coached both middle school football and baseball while teaching at J.V. Martin Junior High School in Dillon, SC. as well as Marlboro County High School in Bennettsville, SC as a Guidance Counselor. He spent fifteen years at Sandhills Youth Center with the remainder of his career at Hoke County High School.
Rusty would not hesitate to tell you that his greatest accomplishments were his family, learning to shag, and knowing the Lord. He always imparted valuable life lessons or a bit of scripture to everyone he encountered.
A graveside service to honor Rusty's memory will be held at Philadelphus Cemetery on Wednesday, March 12th at 11:30.
