Russell Dean Emery, 64, of Mooresville, passed peacefully at his home with family at his side on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Dean, as most knew him, died just over two months after being diagnosed with cancer. He was born in Indianapolis to the late Russell David Emery and Rita Irma (Domka) Emery on May 3, 1960.
Dean worked for Stoops Freightliner in Indianapolis as a mechanic for over 33 years. He married Daphne Marie Buckler on May 1, 2004. He enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing, watching NASCAR, and watching fishing shows. He loved to travel with his family and friends and was always up for a new adventure. With a natural engineering mind, he could fix anything. He was incredibly handy and truly a “jack of all trades.”
He will be deeply missed by many family and friends including his wife of 20 years, Daphne Emery of Mooresville; daughters, Brittany (husband, Kyle) Medeiros of Zionsville, Ashley (husband, Evan) Ferree of Carmel, and Brooke (husband, Charlie) Rodriguez of Speedway; brother, Charles Emery of Tucson, AZ and Danny Emery of Frankfort, IN; and grandchildren, Elliott Medeiros, Theodore Medeiros, Emelia Rodriguez, Henry Ferree, Camila Rodriguez, Hudson Ferree, Emerson Medeiros, and Leonardo Rodriguez.
He was proceeded in death by his mother and father, Rita and Russell; son, Jason “Jake” Michaels; and sister, Rusanna “Rusty” Emery.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, July 8th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. Dean’s Life Celebration Service will begin at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 9th at the funeral home. In keeping with his wishes, Dean’s earthly remains have been cremated.
