Russell E. Flanagan, 76, of West Warwick, passed away at home with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Cynthia J. (Hadfield) Flanagan.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Clarke) Flanagan.

Russ made Exeter his home for over forty years before coming to West Warwick. Voted best dancer by his class at Central High School, he never lost his love for oldies music. After singing with the Narragansett Bay Chorus, he sang with the acapella groups Flashback and later the DeSotos, who were named for his black and white car.

He enjoyed watching movies with his sons and family and playing cribbage and cards any time anyone would play. He and his wife enjoyed traveling with their many friends and his fellow singers to oldies shows all around the northeast. He was a member of the American Legion of West Warwick. He will be sorely missed by his heartbroken family and friends.

Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Russell Flanagan II and his wife Sonja of Johnston, Shawn Flanagan and his wife Danielle of Coventry and Ryan Flanagan of South Kingstown and two grandchildren, Christopher Flanagan of Union City, NJ and Nicholas Flanagan of Johnston. He was the brother of the late John "Jack" Flanagan and Kathleen Fritsche.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Russell's Funeral Service on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Warwick Central Baptist Church, 3270 Post Road, Warwick, RI 02886. All are welcome to attend Russell's interment at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, 1 Rhode Island Avenue, Johnston RI. In lieu of flowers, donations in Russell's memory to the Warwick Central Baptist Church would be appreciated.
