Russell Gilbert

Russell Gilbert, aged 79, of Live Oak, FL, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Born in Gloversville, NY, on March 6, 1946, to the late Russell H. & Ruth Gilbert, Sr., Russell moved to Live Oak over thirty-five years ago from West Palm Beach. He was a proud veteran, having been drafted by the Navy during the Vietnam War.

Russell was a dedicated member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church for over twenty years. He worked and retired as a Tree Crew Foreman for the City of Lake Worth and later owned and operated Gilbert's Lawn Service for more than two decades. An avid fisherman, especially fond of bass fishing, Russell held a Captain's License and was a guide. He also enjoyed horses and cherished his family, particularly his grandchildren.

Russell is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Gilbert, his daughter Melissa Snipes and her husband Brian, his son Buddy Gilbert, nine grandchildren: Trevor, Tyler, Haley, Kaleb, Connor, Christopher, Kami, Lindsey, Bradley, and three great-grandchildren: Cohen, Calla, and Kleine. He was preceded in death by his son, Byron Gilbert and sister, Carol Stevens.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at Philadelphia Baptist Church at 2:30 pm, followed by a service at 3:00 pm officiated by Rev. Leroy Dobbs and Rev. Bill Dilhyon. A private family committal will take place in the church cemetery.
