Wayne is survived by his wife, Rita Merhout Griffin; his daughter, Kelly Filizola; his son, Christopher Griffin and wife, Stacey; his grandchildren, Madeleine Filizola, Katherine Griffin, and Nathan Griffin; his brother, Robert Griffin and wife, Judy; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and good friends.
A Graveside Service to celebrate Wayne's life will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Red Oak Cemetery, 5515 Red Oak Road, Red Oak, NC 27868. Visitation with the family will be following the services at Red Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Wayne's name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 223 W. Jackson Blvd., Suite 350, Chicago, IL 60606.

Wayne was a good friend, classmate, fishing buddy and baseball teammate. I will miss him but we have the memories.
