I just learned of Russell's passing. I worked with Russell for many years in WLA. He was a very smart, charismatic and enjoyed everything life had to offer. I had a classic 1969 Buick Electra convertible. He was me driving it to work one day and told me that he wanted to buy the car at my price. The next day, he handed me the money, I signed the title over to him and watched him drive away with a big smile on his face. He tried to get me to join Sanford & Bernstein and I passed up on the opportunity.
Russell my friend, RIP

I did not personally know Russell but as my namesake I had tracked his progress online for the last few years. I was so saddened to hear of his passing in March (3rd Adar II) in tragic circumstances. Reading the tributes, I can see the world is a much lesser place without him. May his memory be for an everlasting blessing.

We are thinking of you at this sorrowful time. Haven't seen you for a while in Temple and didn't know your son. But he looks just like Irwin and I bet he was just as nice as the two of you. May you have peace and comfort.

Janet and I worked in the mortgage business with Russell right after he graduated from college. One day we went to lunch with Russell in the back seat of our car. A cute girl drove up next to us, looked over and then turned away. Russell, always with a smart remark, explained she must of thought I was with my parents. Now we didn't think of ourselves as old enough to be his parents but I guess Russell did. Couldn't help but love Russell. He was one of a kind. A great guy who will be missed. Our hearts go out to your family. RIP. Janet and Jack McSweeney

1981 Orioles West LA Little League: Russell is in the second row, first on left

There wasn't a nicer kid in all my years of coaching at West Los Angeles Little League. Russell played on our team at the age of nine. Spirited, playful, engaging, and a great kid to have around. From what I know, those who've known him as he grew to be a man, a husband and a father, all concur that Russell will be forever remembered. I feel blessed to have even known him. Forever in our hearts, dear Russell. Love, Richard Ordin

Dear Sharon and Irwin,

Sending love and strength to you on this sad day. I remember you both as you were in the seventies and eighties - warm, loving, generous people. In reading about your son, I see that he was every bit as wonderful as you. Ten years ago, my oldest son passed away. My heart was shredded, but as time moved forward, I eventually joined the living. I know your family and friends will help you survive this horrible loss. Grandchildren, especially, are a blessing. Take care,

Met Russell as a young and ambitious man in 1992 while working at at a mortgage company. He like the finer things in life. One day he took a group of us to a Brentwood store where he had connections and asked if we wanted to buy the latest "trend" in belt buckles. Today, 27 years later, I still have that belt buckle. Rest in peace and god speed my friend.
