Russell A. Miller

Russell A. Miller, age 84 of Pisgah, AL, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at his residence.
The funeral service is Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 1:30 pm in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
Family will receive friends Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm.

Russell worked as a rancher, cattle farmer, and textile worker, and as a pump operator for TVA. He enjoyed gardening, raising cattle and farming animals. He loved to hunt, fish, and camp with his precious wife and family, and was a talented guitar player and singer. He loved to play cards, especially rook, and was skilled at playing horseshoes. He could build or repair most anything, was a Jack-of-all-trades, and was willing to help anyone. He traveled with his wife and children to see much of the beautiful USA. When he saw the Grand Canyon for the first time, he jokingly commented "I thought it would be bigger!"
The family wants to express great gratitude to Heartlite Hospice staff, especially Travis Chapman, and Vickie Thornberry Wells for the wonderful care and love for Dad, Mom and the family for the past 4 years.
Russell is survived by:
Children: Donna and Tim Moore, Charles Miller and Prince Shema, John and Genise Miller, Tammy and Matt Johnston, Alan and Melissa Miller, and Joey and Lisa Miller.
Brother: Edward and Nadine Davis Miller
Brothers- and Sisters-in-Law: Robert Smith; Linda Smith; David Wilbanks; Terry Beck; and Wanda and Steve Wilbanks.
Grandchildren: Jonathan, Benjamin and Matthew McDaniel; Brandi and Hannah Miller; Noah, Elijah, and Aubriana Miller; Matthew, Jeremiah, and Baylee Johnston; Michael Ivey, and Lexi Marsee.
Chosen Son: David Brown
Chosen Daughter: Denise Ferguson
Chosen Grandchildren: Tyler, Dakota and Charlie Ferguson
Great Grandchildren: Parker and Taliesin McDaniel; and Mia Ivey.
And a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Russell was preceded in Death by:
Wife: Mary A. Miller, to whom he was married just shy of 65 years prior to Mary's death in February 2025.
Parents: Edison Miller and Laura Harris.
Father- and Mother-in-Law: Virgil and Fannie Smith.
Sisters-in-Law: Mable Miller, Carolyn Smith, Linda Wilbanks, and Elaine Beck.
Brothers-in-Law: Milton Smith and David Smith.
Son-in-Law: Johnny McDaniel.
Pallbearers: Prince Shema, Jonathan McDaniel, Ben McDaniel, Matthew McDaniel, Noah Miller, Elijah Miller, and Charlie Ferguson.
Honorary Pallbearers: Wonderfully-loved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
