Russell Myers Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Cremation Society of Iowa - Des Moines on Jan. 20, 2026.
Russell Ray Myers was born on October 17, 1949, in Sheldon, Iowa, and passed away on January 13, 2026, in Clive, Iowa.

Russell proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he worked at Oscar Mayer in Perry, Iowa, and later completed his career as a U.S. Postal Carrier, retiring in 2009. He devoted much of his life to his family and community, spending his years as a father coaching both his daughter's and son's teams. Russell continued to play slow-pitch softball for many years. During retirement, he lovingly cared for his grandchildren, taking on many roles as a daycare provider, chauffeur, line cook, toy fixer, therapist, and playmate. He also enjoyed gathering with friends in his coffee club, where they shared stories and relived their glory days.

Russell is survived by his wife, Patti (Feltz) Myers; daughter, Annie (Kevin) Graham; and son, Chuck (Amanda) Myers. He leaves behind six grandchildren: Joel, Peter, and Max Graham, and Dylan, Olivia, and Charlie Myers. He is also survived by his siblings, Sandy Nelson, Jerry Nelson, Gary Myers, Cathy Textor, and Deb (Ray) Pitt, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lois Myers; his sister, Bonnie Richard; and his nephew, Nathan.
