Russell Earl (Russ) Ridley, age 98, of Holland, Michigan, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025 at his home.

Russ was born in Redford Township, Michigan to Selby and Lavina Ridley on July 12, 1927. He graduated from Pontiac High School in Pontiac, Michigan in 1946. He joined the Army and served as part of the occupation forces in Japan after WWII. After his discharge, he worked for Consumers Power Company in many different capacities until his retirement in 1987.

Russ especially enjoyed building and woodworking, and he constructed the interiors of two three-season rooms on his houses, along with the interior of his "man cave" in his most recent residence. He lived in the Pontiac/Waterford area until 1995 when he moved to Holland.

Russell is survived by his second wife of 49 years, Patricia; son, James and Cindy Ridley; daughter, Denise and Randy Smith; grandchildren Justin and Alesha Ridley; Kristine and Ryan Weilert; Jennifer and Jeremy Elwell; and Gregory and Becca Smith; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanore, his parents, and three siblings.

A funeral service will be held at New Life Nazarene Church, 2805 132nd Ave. Holland, MI with Pastor Zach Caruth officiating, on Thursday, October 30 at 3:00 pm. Visitation will be held at the church one hour beforehand from 2:00 - 3:00.

Burial will be on Saturday, November 1, at Perry Mount Park Cemetery in Pontiac, Michigan at 12:30 pm. Dykstra Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to New Life Nazarene Church, 2805 132nd Ave., Holland, MI. 49424.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Elara Hospice for their care and support, and especially to his regular nurse, Janea, who helped them through this difficult transition.
