Russell D. Schrum

MCDONALD – Russell D. Schrum, "Brown Hat," age 86, entered into eternal rest Sunday, April 27, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman. He was born June 13, 1938 in Hamilton County, Ohio, the son of Peter and Ruth Schrum.
Russ attended Canfield High School and worked for Wean United in Youngstown as a welder. Later, he spent many years in maintenance at the Canfield Fairgrounds. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them and attending their many sporting events. He was a huge sports fans, with an emphasis on the Indians/Guardians and horse racing.
His favorite time of year was spent with family and friends, camping at the Canfield Fair for over fifty years.
Precious memories of Russ live on with two children, William Schrum (Dottie Marsh) of Hawaii and Amy Hayda (Dennis) of McDonald; three grandchildren: Jason Schrum (Arynne), Shalyn Kay (Justin), and Brooke Collins (Ryan); and five great-grandchildren: Easton, Rowen, Carden, Alanna, and Andri.
Preceding him in death are his parents; two sons, David and Michael Schrum; and Delores Schrum, his former wife.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 10:30 am Friday, May 2, 2025 at St. Pope John XXIII Parish, Mt. Carmel campus in Niles, with a luncheon to follow.
