Upon completion of his studies at Duns Scotus, he continued his education with Catholic University, Washington D.C. to be awarded a Master of Divinity, (STM.) Having finished his studies at Catholic University, he took his interests further to Rome with the completion of a Doctorate in Sacred Theology (S.T.D.) with Pontificia Universitas Lateranensis. Academia Alfonsiana, Rome. Returning from Rome Rusty did some time with the Catholic Diocese of Richmond then took a post with the Archdiocese of Boston as Moral Theologian. He then went back to Richmond, and then to Saint Louis functioning each time in the same capacity until he finally returned to The Diocese of Richmond as both Moral Theologian and Parish Priest. Thinking of Fr. Russell and the good memories we have of spending time with him when he was in the DC area many years ago. May he rest in peace. Jay and Regina Ianni

We were saddened to learn on this Christmas that Father Russell Smith had passed away earlier this year. We have fond memories of Father Russell as he married us on September 20 near the time when he was ordained. We lost touch with Father over the years but always kept him in our hearts and prayers.

I just learned of the passing of Rusty and it leaves me heartbroken. We spoke often on the phone, but the last time I saw him was when I traveled from Maryland to Williamsburg to attend his mother's funeral. His father was a brother to my late mother in-law, Marion Smith Antinori. Rusty was a kind soul with a wicked sense of humor. He always called me Cousin Jane. I'm so sorry I won't get another chance to talk to him. May he rest in peace. ~Jane Davis Antinori, Salisbury, MD
