Funeral services for Russell Wilson, 77, of Columbia, LA will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Abundant Life Full Gospel Fellowship, Rayville, LA with Bro. Tim Harris and Bro. Joey Davidson officiating. Interment will follow to Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, Hebert, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.

Russell was born on July 17, 1948, in Mangham, LA and passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at his home due to illness.

Russell was a devoted husband, dad, papaw and friend to many. He was a farmer all his life and worked for union local 406 from which he retired from as a dozier operator.

Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Francis Wilson; dad, Emmitt Wilson; mom, Gladys Wilson; sister, Harrett Wilson; brothers, Billy Wilson, Willie Wilson, Garnold "Peck" Wilson ; sister, Joanne Welch; sister, Laverne Bennett; great granddaughter, Emma Davidson; great grandson, Carter Jennings.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Rhonda Wilson; children, Rusty Wilson (Marsha), Lisa Davidson (Joey), Angie Boggs (David), Misty Munholland (Jeff); step-children, Roger Shipp (Tonya) and Ricky Shipp (Gracie); 9-grandchildren, 4-step grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren; siblings, Bonnie Wilson, Donald Wilson, Patsy Lee, Charlotte Smith, and Lynn Wilson;

Russell has a host of nephews and nieces and loved them all. However, Kevin Bennett (son of Laverne Bennett) was extra special to him. They fished, worked and hung out almost every day. Kevin has come every time he asked for him. Kevin was like a son to Russell. We also want to thank his wife, Sandra for allowing Kevin to always be there for Russell.

He loved all of his grandchildren however there is a few that was super close to him and hung out with him a lot. Courtney Jinks (Skeeter Hawk), Kaylee Quinn, Kevin Day, Riley Grace (Baby Red). Russell had a nickname for almost everyone. He loved all of his kids but we all know Baby was his favorite.

Bro. Harris baptized Russell at Joey and Lisa's home on April 11, 2020 and it forever changed his life. He loved his church family and home health nurse (Ms.Nitta). He loved having family reunions, absolutely loved gardening and going fishing. Russell loved Shirley and Billy Davidson Pastors at Abundant Life Full Gospel Fellowship. He loved hearing Shirley Sing and knew that Shirley was praying for him. He loved hearing his son-law, Joey preach. Hearing the singing by Dean Roy, Ms. Sue, all the ladies, Cooper (Cornbread), and Tripp (Lil Tripp).

Pallbearers are Jason Wilson, Derrick Davidson, Kevin Day, Trent Jinks, Jeremy Quinn and Jacob Jones.

Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Abundant Life Full Gospel Fellowship, Rayville, LA
