Mr. Marion Russell Wise, 68, of Aynor, entered peacefully into his Savior's arms Saturday, November 22, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Wise was born on July 12,1957, in Conway Hospital and was the son of the late James Marion Wise and the late Mildred Winburn Wise Floyd. Russell was a graduate of Aynor High School and a lifetime faithful farmer. He began working on the family farm when he was just 6 years old, driving tobacco drags. When Mr. Wise lost his father unexpectedly at 21, he was faced with an impossible decision to quit Coastal Carolina University and sacrifice his dreams of attaining a business degree to save the family farm. And that he did-he never looked back. During his farming career, he developed a deep love for the land and all things agriculture, especially farming tobacco, cotton, corn, and raising cattle. He was the recipient of the Conservation Farmer of the Year Award in 2009 from The Horry Soil and Water Conservation District. Above all, he loved his family and found immense joy in his grandkids and in providing for his family.
Surviving are his special wife, Barbara Joan Wise of Murrells Inlet; a son and daughter, Dr. Garett Marion Wise of Myrtle Beach and Brooke Russell Wise Hale (Daniel) of Seoul, South Korea; treasured grandchildren, Shiloh Hale, Asa Jo Hale, and Jesse Hale all of Seoul, South Korea; a beloved sister, Rhonda McIntyre of Marion; a dear stepfather, Dr. James C. Floyd; special step-siblings, Jimmy Floyd (Lisa) and Kathy Floyd Bullock (John); a loyal friend and employee of decades, Danny Johnson; uncles and cousins who were like brothers - Joe Wise, Kenny Wise, and Paul Wise; several lifetime faithful friends, many more special family members, neighbors, and friends of the Horry farming community.
Mr. Wise was preceded in death by his father, James Marion Wise; his mother, Mildred Winburn Wise-Floyd; lifelong friend, chosen brother, and farm buddy, A.B. Hucks; beloved brother-in-law, Joe McIntyre; and special uncle, Carl Wise.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 28th, at 2:30 PM at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery on Salem Road.
