RUTH PEARL HARRIS ANDREWS WAS BORN APRIL 17, 1925 WITH HER TWIN BROTHER, ROBERT EARL, TO PARENTS GRANVILLE AND ORA HARRIS IN BARTLETT, TENNESSEE ON APRIL 17, 1925.

SHE ATTENDED SCHOOL THRU THE EIGHTH GRADE AND OFTEN REFLECTED ON THE MANY MILES SHE WALKED TO SCHOOL EACH DAY WITHOUT THE PRIVILEGE OF BUSSING OFFERED TO OTHERS. SCHOOLING WAS ALSO SCHEDULED AROUND COTTON PICKING SEASON, WHICH ALONG WITH FARMING, WAS THE ONLY OPTION TO PROVIDE INCOME FOR THE FAMILY.

AT THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN SHE MOVED TO CINCINNATI, OHIO TO LIVE WITH HER AUNT AND MET WILLIAM S ANDREWS WHOM SHE MARRIED JANUARY 10, 1946. TO THIS UNION WAS BORN GERALD, GAREY, AND BEVERLY.

PEARL WAS BAPTISED AT AN EARLY AGE AND REMAINED A FAITHFUL SERVANT OF GOD. SHE WAS A LONGTIME AND LOYAL MEMBER OF WILLING SPIRIT BAPTIST CHURCH. THERE SHE WAS PRESIDENT OF THE PASTORIAL CHOIR AND CO- CHAIRED THE BOOK SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE AND FUND. ADDITIONALLY, EVERYONE LOOKED FORWARD EACH YEAR TO HER "WAY OF THE CROSS" PROGRAM THAT HOSTED SOME OF THE GREAT VOICES OF THE CHURCH AND COMMUNITY. MOTHER PEARL WAS THE OLDEST "MOTHER" OF THE CHURCH.

SHE WAS A MUCH LOVED MEMBER OF THE CUMMINSVILLE COMMUNITY. SHE ENJOYED SITTING ON THE PORCH AND CONVERSING WITH EVERYONE WHO WALKED BY, YOUNG AND OLD ALIKE. THE NEIGHBORHOOD YOUTH WELCOMED THE SKATING PARTY OUTINGS SHE PUT TOGETHER AND EVERYONE DROPPED BY HER ANNUAL "LUAU" IN THE BACK YARD.

PEARL LOVED CUMMINSVILLE AND ACTIVELY PARTICIPATED IN THE COMMUNITY COUNCIL. SHE COULD BE SEEN MANY MORNINGS SWEEPING THE SIDEWALKS AND ENCOURAGED EVERYONE TO TAKE PRIDE IN THE COMMUNITY. PEARL WORKED HER ENTIRE ADULT LIFE AS A HOUSEKEEPER AND WAS MUCH LOVED BY THE FAMILIES SHE SUPPORTED. INDEED, SHE DID NOT GIVE UP HER LAST DAYS WITH THE BERTKE FAMILY UNTIL SHE WAS 91. SHE MOVED TO ATLANTA TO LIVE WITH HER DAUGHTER, BEVERLY AT THE AGE OF 92. THERE SHE JOINED THE CAMP TRUIT SENIOR CENTER AND PARTICIPATED THREE DAYS PER WEEK. SHE WAS KNOWN THERE FOR HER WIT, AND OF COURSE, FOR HER FIERCE NEED TO BE INDEPENDENT AND IN CONTROL.

PEARL WAS AN AMAZING SPIRIT AND A SOURCE OF STRENGTH AND SUPPORT TO ALL WHO KNEW HER AND LOVED HER. ALWAYS QUICK WITH A BRIGHT SMILE , SHE BEFRIENDED EVERYONE SHE MET. IT GAVE HER GREAT JOY TO SHARE WITH EVERYONE THAT SHE WAS ONE HUNDRED YEARS OLD. IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW, SHE TOLD YOU!

SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER HUSBAND, WILLIAM, HER SON, GAREY, HER GRANDDAUGHTER, TONI, HER GREAT GRANDSON QUENTIN, AND HER BROTHERS,
VIRGIL, FRANK, ELMO, ALEX, ROBERT, AND HER SISTER, MATTIE LOU.

SHE LEAVES TO CHERISH HER MEMORY HER SON, JERRY (ZERITA), HER DAUGHTER, BEVERLY, HER GRANDDAUGHTERS KIMBERLY, AND CARMELLE (RICHARD), HER GREAT-GRANDDAUGHTER, HAYLI, FIVE GREAT GRANDSONS, HER SPIRITUAL SONS, JIMMY CRAWLEY AND RON DUMAS, HER CHOSEN GOD CHILD, MICHELE HUNTER, AND HER
BELOVED CARETAKER, GAIL CARR.
