Mrs. Ruth Ann “Hank” Shatto Corbitt, 93, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2025, while at her son, Jimmy’s home surrounded by family.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 PM (EST) on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Ralph Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6-8 PM (EST) at the funeral home.
Mrs. Corbitt was born January 24, 1932, in Springfield, OH, daughter of the late Wilbur Shatto and Mary Campbell Shatto. She retired from the Bell South Telephone Company with over 33 years of service. Mrs. Corbitt enjoyed spending time at the Central Activities Center and was a member of the “Love Bunch” senior bowling league. She was also a member of the CWA Union and the Telephone Pioneers. She also loved spending time with her seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Additionally, Mrs. Corbitt was a faithful member of Oswichee Baptist Church.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Corbitt; sisters, Frances Gray, Maxine Williams and Mary Lou McConkey; brothers, Less Cramblett, Jack Shatto, Ronald Shatto, Allen “Jocko” Shatto, Gene Shatto, John Shatto and Lee Shatto.
She is survived by three sons, James “Jimmy” Corbitt and wife Donna, Steven “Steve” Corbitt and wife Lisa and David Corbitt and wife, Terri; seven grandchildren Stacy Oglesby (Nolan), Alan Corbitt, Brandy Herron (Scott), Jessica Bradley (A.J.), Brittany McDougall (Shane), Joey Lang (Felicia) and Amanda Marshall (Chris); twelve great-grandchildren James Oglesby, Dalton, Sadie and Easton Herron, Alexa, Ayden and Aleah Bradley, Hunter and Braxton McDougall, Alex and Keith Lang and Christopher Marshall; as well as several extended family and friends.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Oswichee Baptist Church, 1049 Hwy 165, Ft. Mitchell, AL 36856.
