Ruth D. Baker, née Mundt, age 98, late of Mokena, Illinois, formerly of Hometown, Illinois, passed away peacefully.
Beloved wife of the late Ray Baker, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. Loving mother of Ron (MaryAnn, née Bennett) Baker, Rhonda Weisseg, and Rose (David) Rock. Cherished grandmother of Scott (Rebecca) Anderson, Lori (Scott) Mensik, the late Lauren Weisseg, Chuck (Jenna) Baker, Eric Weisseg, and Kim (Sean) Phillips. Proud great-grandmother of Trent Anderson, Drew Anderson, Jackson Mensik, Ava Phillips, Reese Mensik, Carson Baker, Chase Phillips, Quinn Baker, and Kade Phillips.
Ruth was born and raised in Muskegon, Michigan. After marrying Ray, the couple moved to Chicago in 1952, where they raised their family in Hometown. They spent 40 wonderful years there before retiring and relocating to Mokena.
She was an active and devoted member of Hometown Christian Church, a proud member of the Welcome Wagon, and enjoyed reading and spending time with her family-especially her grandchildren. An avid bowler, Ruth bowled weekly well into her 90s, a testament to her energy, determination, and love of life.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 1:00 PM until the time of family reflection and remembrance at 5:00 PM, at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 19604 Wolf Road, Mokena, Illinois 60448.
Private Inurnment will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
