Ruth Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Funeral & Cremation Services and Cemetery - North Olmsted on May 28, 2024.
Ruth Jean Brown ( nee. Ingram), age 85 of Broadview Heights passed away on May 23, 2024. She was born to the late Leslie Elmer Ingram and Urania Smith.
She was the beloved wife of the late David S. Brown Sr.; devoted mother of David S. Brown Jr. (Carrie), Carolyn L. Brown (deceased) and William I. Brown; cherished grandmother of Brittany A. (Nicholas) Milford and Madisen T. ( Kendall) Stacks; loving great grandmother to Weston Stacks and Ayla Stacks; dear sister of Patricia A. Ladd (deceased) and Donald J. Ingram (deceased); Ruth was loved and adored by the extended family of her 21 nieces and nephews.
Ruth and Dave met while both working at M.A. Hanna in downtown Cleveland. They were engaged shortly thereafter, and were married on January 23, 1960. They raised their family in Lakewood.
Ruth was an avid sports fan who loved all her Cleveland teams. She was a longtime, dedicated basketball supporter for her kid's teams. She followed college basketball faithfully. She and her husband Dave even attended 24 NCAA Final Four basketball tournaments.
She graduated from Lakewood High School where she later worked as a teacher's aid and continued to be an active supporter of their athletic programs through the years.
She was very fond of all things Malley's Chocolates, Neil Diamond (attending over 25 of his concerts throughout her life), the Courtyard restaurant in Brecksville, the faithful friends that met at McDonald's in the mornings for many years, and of course, rooting for her UNC Tarheels. Her loved ones will always cherish the meal creations that "Ruthie made the best": chocolate chip cookies, "Frozen Dessert", "Brown Special", and thousands of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
She made a tremendous impact on many people, all who knew her to be extremely compassionate, caring, loyal, and resilient. She was sacrificially loving to her many family members and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held on August 3, 2024, details to follow.

Mrs Brown was the mom who said the kids can play here. Whether it was basketball, ping pong ,kick the can, ghost in the graveyard, 24 hour street football marathons, garage haunted houses. The Browns house was it. Laska/Anders/Browns/Stepaniks/
Varga/even the Privatera (?) brothers and others , Mrs Brown welcomed and accepted us all. Everyone of us could tell how much she LOVED her family. A Great Mom!
