Ruth Busing Obituary
Ruth A. Busing, 98 of Missouri Valley died on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Longview Nursing Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 15th at the Missouri Valley United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 16th at the Missouri Valley United Methodist Church.
On September 21, 1952, Ruth was united in marriage to the love of her life, Wilber "Bud" Busing at the United Methodist Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Ruth and Bud were blessed with two children, Bruce and Christine. Ruth worked as a bank employee and also in real estate sales with Bud, but most of her life was spent as a farm wife and mother. They lived near Missouri Valley and then on the farm outside of Logan before moving into town in Missouri Valley in 2000.
Ruth was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Missouri Valley. She was a member of the Missouri Valley Eastern Star, the United Methodist Church Women, the American Legion Auxiliary of which she was the chaplain, Friend of the Library, and the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she was president twice, the Red Hat Society, and the Tuesday Club.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Lester, Lawrence, and Glen Day. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Bud Busing of Missouri Valley; children, Bruce Busing and his wife, Deb of Logan and Christine and her husband, Kirk Petersen of Harlan, Iowa; grandchildren, Jennifer (Alex) Conrad of Logan, Michael (Mariah) Busing of Missouri Valley, Sara (Mitch) Probst of Logan, Matthew (Carrie) Busing of Logan, Mitchel (Kate) Petersen of Harlan and Amanda (Brandon) Kew of Omaha, Nebraska; 12 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
