MAYSVILLE — Ruth Mae (Burton, Fooks) Curtis died January 10, 2023, at the Hospice Care Center in Maysville.
Ruth was a strong and independent woman, opening her own business in 1984, after being widowed with two young daughters. She remarried years later to a loving husband and amazing father to her two girls. First and foremost, she was a mother. She fiercely loved, supported, and protected her daughters and grandchildren. She was also a devoted wife, taking care of her beloved husband up until she no longer had the strength to do so.
She was a proud graduate of Deming High School and licensed cosmetologist.
She was a member of the Mayslick Homemakers and the Germantown Brightsiders, she enjoyed the work, outings, and friendships she made in the groups.
She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Johnny Newton Fooks, her father and mother, David and Rella Burton. Father and Mother-in-law, George and Betty Fooks, three siblings, Elmer Burton, Pete Burton and Jessie Burton.
She leaves her husband of 34 years, Frank Curtis, children Sidney (Danny) Hitch, Mary (Chris) Breeze, Michelle (Dave) Taylor, Marc Curtis, her grandchildren, Hailey and Dylan McElfresh, Codey Nelson, Justin Hitch, Jacob Hitch, Carleigh Hitch, Jordan Taylor, and Brandon Taylor, two sisters Mary Workman and Gladys (Larry) Abrams, three sister-in-laws, Lou Wells, Barbara Curtis and Chaun Curtis as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Robertson County Funeral Home in Mount Olivet, Kentucky.
Visitation will be Friday January 13, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. and funeral at 1 p.m. Saturday January 14, 2023.
Burial to follow in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Hope.
