Ruth Dargie, 95, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. She was the wife of the late Paul N. Dargie.
Born in Willimantic, CT., she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Hallie (Apt) Barrow. Ruth resided in Cumberland for the past 40 years, previously residing in Rumford, RI.
She was an avid gardener, and also loved reading, knitting and crocheting. She was a kind and gentle soul with a wonderful sense of humor.
Ruth was employed by the FRAM Corporation of East Providence for many years as an office supervisor until her retirement.
Ruth leaves two daughters; Janis Visaggio (husband Tom) of Florida, Hallie Clark of North Smithfield; two sons, Philip Dargie of Cumberland, and Joseph Dargie (wife Mary Ann) of California. One brother Clarence Barrow of Warwick and one sister Margaret Hallaway of Mountain Home, AR. Her four grandchildren; Jennifer, Nicholas, Mathew and Hallie; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the mother-in-law of the late Larry Clark.
Ruth's Life Celebration will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2022, beginning with Visiting Hours from 10 AM to 11 AM, followed by a prayer service at 11 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the RI Veterans Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association - RI Chapter, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence RI 02906.
