Ruth Dilly Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Green-Larsen Mortuary Inc on Mar. 2, 2026.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ruth (Johnson) Dilly, 69, who passed away on February 23rd, 2026. A beautiful and caring soul who loved her boys deeply and cherished her family always.

Ruth was born on June 2nd, 1956, to Karrol (Horness) and Roy Johnson in Ray, MN, where she was raised until moving to International Falls in her late teens. Ruth spent most of her life in the Falls, until she rekindled love with her high school sweetheart, Bernard F. Dilly. They would go on to spend over a decade together in Bemidji, MN until his passing in 2016. The light and happiness that they brought to each other couldn't be called anything other than true love.

Between Bemidji and International Falls, Ruth worked for the Occupational Development Center, ODC, supporting and caring for the individuals in the developmental programs in both communities.

Wherever she was, Ruth could make magic in the kitchen-a trait she inherited from her mother. Whether she was baking pies, cakes, or a full-on Christmas cookie smorgasbord, everything she made would put smiles on people's faces and have them coming back for more. When not in the kitchen she would love to kick back and read a book or watch shows-murder mysteries being a favorite. Crosswords, number puzzles, and crafts were also ways in which she found joy and relaxation. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her sister Linda and her brother-in-law Harry. Bragging rights were always up for grabs when they would visit for marathon Yahtzee and Cribbage game sessions.

Our family would like to extend a deep appreciation to the team at the Rainy Lake Medical Center, and everyone who has provided care to Ruth this last year. As a family, we will be forever grateful for the support and kindness shown. Ruth is survived by her three sons, Roy H. Nolen, Vernon L. Larson, and Tyler J. Kawulia-Nolen. Her sister Linda (Johnson) Weigand, and brothers: Pete, Roy, and Dan Johnson. Her grandchildren: Ashley (Nolen) Vanderpool, Bailey Nolen, Wynter (Nolen) Thomas, and Samantha Nash. Along with her nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Karrol and Roy Johnson, and her husband Bernie Dilly.

Per Ruth's wishes, there will be no Funeral Service.
