Ruth Alice Hayes Duenne, 94, died peacefully, Friday, October 18, 2024, at her home in Charleston, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born September 2, 1930, in Pulaski County Illinois to the late James O. and Effie Eddleman Hayes. Ruth lived most of her life in Mississippi County where was a member of Saint Henry Catholic Church in Charleston. She served on various committees at the church and a member of the Saint Henry's Ladies' Sodality and the Daughters of Isabella Circle 806.
On December 27, 1951, she was united in marriage at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Cairo, Illinois to Francis DeSales Duenne, who preceded her in death on December 4, 1997.
She is survived by one son: Dan (Judy) Duenne of Charleston, Missouri and five daughters: Deborah (Stowell) Hobbs or Charleston, Missouri, Frances (Richard) Boruch of Niles, Illinois, Mary (Don) Burnett of Sikeston, Missouri, Elizabeth (Mike) Carney of Jackson, Missouri, and Barbara (Joe) Pattengill of Sikeston, Missouri. She is also survived by one grandson: Joseph Boruch of Niles, Illinois and seven granddaughters: Laurie (Jason) Fullen of Germantown, Tennessee, Emily (Matt) Wright of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Mary (Derek) Emerine of Collierville, Tennessee, Tess (Eric) Seiler of Scott City, Missouri, Danielle (Cole Riechert) Duenne of Charleston, Missouri and Kate (Josh) Medlock of Charleston, Missouri, and Tori (Josh Sissom) Duenne of Charleston, Missouri and 15 great grandchildren and one on the way.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers: Forrest O.Hayes, Paul N. Hayes, and James B. Hayes and five sisters: Adeline Evers, Ada Evans, Gladys McKinney, Lorene Goins and Opal Conley.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time for the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 25, 2024, at the St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston. The Rev. David Dohogne, pastor, will serve as celebrant.
A private family burial will follow at Texas Bend Cemetery near Charleston. Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston
Pallbearers will be grandsons in law, Jason Fullen, Matt Wright, Derek Emerine, Eric Seiler, Josh Medlock and Josh Sissom.
Honorary pallbearers will be her sons in law and daughter in law, Stowell Hobbs, Richard Boruch, Don Burnett, Mike Carney, Joe Pattengill, Judy Duenne, and her grandson, Joe Boruch.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to be made to: Saint Henry Catholic Church, 304 Court Street, Charleston, Missouri, 63834, St. Henry Catholic School, 306 Court Street, Charleston, Missouri 63834 or to the charity of your choice.
