Townsend – Ruth M. (Harmer) Gibbs, 87, passed away peacefully at home on February 12, 2025.
Ruth was born in Lowell on August 23, 1937, a daughter of the late Joseph and Clementine Kenney. For over 15 years, Ruth was the proud owner and operator of the Country Craft Barn in Townsend. She was extremely artistic and enjoyed teaching others by offering craft classes at her business. She was always a friendly face within her community, in which she was very involved. She volunteered at the Senior Center and helped with accounting.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 58 years, George Gibbs of Townsend; her children, John Gibbs of Pepperell, Kathleen Thorpe of Pepperell, and Brenda Martines of Townsend; grandchildren, Timothy Thorpe, Nathan, Nicholas, and Kayla Rose Gibbs, Devin and Keifer Martines; and one great grandson, Michael.
She was predeceased by her son Daniel Gibbs; two grandsons, Shawn Thorpe and Bryan Thorpe, her son in law, Dennis Martines, and two brothers David and William "Billy" Harmer.
Ruth's funeral and burial will be held privately. Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Townsend, is assisting the family.
