Ruth Caroline Goebel, passed away peacefully on her 91st birthday, July 13, 2025.

Ruth was a woman of quiet strength, deep faith, and a heart that overflowed with love. A devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenview, Ruth faithfully served her congregation for many years. She lovingly oversaw the church's Upper Gift Room and provided support to numerous families in need, always striving to bring comfort and joy to others.

Creative and thoughtful, Ruth found great joy in painting, crafts, sewing, and reading mystery novels. She had a remarkable talent for turning the ordinary into something beautiful and meaningful, often gifting her handmade creations to those she loved. Her artistic spirit was matched only by her warmth and generosity.

Family was the center of Ruth's world. She was a devoted and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Her greatest joy came from being surrounded by those she loved and helping them feel happy, supported, and cherished.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Goebel and daughters Kathleen Ruth (Peter) Testa and Kristen A. Goebel, brother Robert (Dorothy) Klabunde, and parents Emil and Lydia Klabunde. She is survived by children, Tom S. (Regine) Goebel, The Honorable Steven J. (Sofia) Goebel, Retired, Karen M. (Vance) Jackson, and Kurt A. (Rebecca) Goebel; grandchildren Megan, Matthew (fiancé Jessica), and Emily Goebel, Stephanie (Todd) Testa Morgan, Steven (Agatha), Ryan and Tyler Testa (girlfriend Kenzie), Keith, Kyle (Angela), Grant (Kathryn), Rob (Molly) and Kristen Jackson, Max and Lydia Goebel; 18 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is survived by a loving family who will carry her memory with them always, inspired by her faith, her kindness, and her unwavering devotion.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 17 from 11 am until the time of the service at 1 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1850 Chestnut, Glenview, IL 60025. Interment to follow at Ridgewood Cemetery in Des Plaines.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Ruth's legacy of love, service, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
