Ruth Marie Harber (nee Edwards), age 104. of Bensenville, beloved wife of Lowell: loving father of Jon L. Harber (Edna), David O. Harber (Susan) and Nancy Harber; dear grandmother of Violeta, Andrea, Benjamin, Monica. Oliver, and Madeleine; and fond sister of Oliver J. Edwards Jr. In addition to her husband, Lowell, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Oliver J. Edwards Sr. and Marie J. Edwards (Vanek), her brother, Buddy, and a grandson, Oliver. Ruth is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Ruth was born at home in Berwyn on July 30, 1921. She graduated from J. Sterling Morton East High School ,Cicero, IL After graduation she worked for several years as a secretary for the Bell & Zoller Coal & Mining Company, Chicago, and later at the

Bensenville State Bank. After her children were raised she returned to work at International Harvester, Melrose Park.

Ruth was a resident of Bensenville for 80 years, and participated in many community organizations. She served as a past president of the Bensenville Garden Club, was a member of Red Hats, and was a literacy volunteer at Tioga Elementary School. She was a lifelong supporter of the Bensenville Public Library, the Deer Grove Leisure Center, and the Bensenville Public Schools. Ruth was a founding member of St. Bede's Episcopal Church, Bensenville, and a former member of St. Nicholas Episcopal Church, Elk Grove.

Memorial service will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 at Geils Funeral Home, 180 S York Road, Bensenville with a service by Minister Rob Lewis from All Souls Anglican Church in Wheaton, Illinois at 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Ruth's honor to Boys Town, Boys Town, NE; WTTW public television, Chicago; the Bensenville Public Library; or the Bensenville Garden Club Scholarship Fund.

Ruth's family would like to extend our appreciation to her faithful and loving neighbors, the Bensenville Garden Club, and all those many caring individuals who have provided Ruth with daily care, comfort, and companionship throughout her final years. We thank you, and are extremely grateful to you.

Interment Private
