Ruth Hern Obituary
Ruth Spears Hern was born to Blaine and Piety (Griffin) Spears on March 7, 1929, in Appleton, Arkansas.
She graduated from Hector High School, Arkansas Tech and received a B.A. from the University of Arkansas in 1951. She taught math at Hector, AR and Raton, NM before working in geophysics for Shell Oil Company and Amico Oil Company in Wichita Falls, Tx., Tulsa, OK., Casper, Wy., and Oklahoma City, OK. She married Herbert E. Hern and raised her family in Colorado Springs, CO.
She is survived by three children, Bec Rheins of Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Gene Hern of Lisbon, Portugal, and Jane Boyarski of Mesquite, NV., along with four grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her son Dale Hern, sister Louise Spears Barry, brother Bob Spears, and her loving companion Arvid "Swede" Hanson.
