Ruth Lucille Holcomb, 89 , passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Sunflower Care Home in Emporia.
She was born November 27, 1935 in Bushong, Kansas the daughter of Marvin and Marie Chalker Schlesener.
Ruth grew up on a farm and learned the value of a hard day's work early on in her life. She developed a love for animals with a special place in her heart for horses.
Her faith was steadfast. Ruth was a life-long member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses attending most of the time in Emporia.
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great- great-grandmother. She tried to take time to appreciate her surroundings at every opportunity. Watching hummingbirds, tending her flower garden and taking in the vista’s of the Flint Hills always seemed to give her a sense of peace and everlasting appreciation.
Ruth will live on in the hearts and treasured memories of her daughters, Virginia Albrecht (Royden), JoAnn Rhoads, Cathy Waechter (Leo) and Donna Dains, Ruth Cisneros (Angel) and Amanda Beeman; her son, David Dains (Kim); sisters Jeanie Fowler, Barbara Crull (Richard) and Mary Lou Blakey; a brother, Calvin Schlesener (Linda), twenty four grandchildren; forty four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous extended family and a community of friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, David L. Dains and Gary L. Holcomb; an infant daughter, Rebecca Holcomb; brothers, Howard, Don and Kenneth Schlesener; a sister Cordilia Seeley.
