Ruth Ann Hultgren

Hultgren, Ruth A. Age 93 of St Anthony Village, passed away on December 21, 2025. She was one of 3 children born in Grafton, North Dakota to Linton and Minnie Paterson Woods. She is survived by daughters Barb Swan, Laurie Anderson, Karen Allen and son Steve Hultgren, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Dayton Hultgren. She received her degree in Elementary Education from Mayville College in North Dakota and taught 3rd and 4th grade for several years. Ruth then taught preschool at Nativity Lutheran Church and helped set up the 1st preschool program at St. Anthony Community Center where she became director. In 1990 she became the Activities Director at Chandler Place in St. Anthony and continued to volunteer there for many years following her retirement. She volunteered in several capacities throughout her life including leading Bible Study Fellowship, teaching English as a second language, teaching Sunday School and playing the piano for years at Chandler and Crestview Nursing Home. She will be remembered for her strong faith, her love of knitting, donating over 250 pair of mittens to children in need and her love of gardening with photos of her flowers winning many contests. Ruth will be greatly missed by her family, friends and community. A private family service will be held on January 16, 2026.
