Ruth Jensen

Ruth Ann Jensen, 76, of Independence passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at her home in Independence, Kansas. Ruth was known for her tireless work ethic, her passion for her hobbies, and above all, her unwavering love for her family and her dogs.
She was born on August 6, 1949, in Thomas, Oklahoma, to Rev. Harold O. and Arlene (Brown) Jensen. Ruth graduated from Labette County Community High School and later returned to college graduating from Coffeyville Community College.
Ruth worked diligently at Dixon Industries and later at Cessna Aircraft in Independence, until retiring after a long and fulfilling career. She was also a dedicated member at her church Grace Memorial United Methodist Church in Independence, where she devotedly served as a secretary for several years and proudly sang in the church choir. Ruth's hobbies were as diverse as her talents, ranging from sewing, golfing, bowling, canoeing, reading, knitting, and crocheting. She was a lifetime member of both the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, demonstrating her commitment to service in her community.
Ruth is survived by her loving family: her daughter, Dee Hugo and her husband Dwight; her sons Troy Reister and his wife Kris, Tracy Reister; her sister, Lois Jensen; her brother, James Jensen; her grandchildren, Megan Sigmon and her husband Brandon, Skye Bilby, Briana Braman and her husband Nick, Jete Littell, Jazze Vail and her husband Dalton, Jailee Reister, Dani Reister, Kassie Reister, Kevin Reister, and Karley Reister; and her 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Jensen, her mother, Arlene Jensen, and her brother, Gary Jensen.
Following Ruth's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. A memorial service celebrating Ruth's life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 109 South 13th Street in Independence with Pastor Randy Beeman officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials in Ruth memory to Grace Memorial United Methodist Church; contributions may be left with or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
