Ruth Kizer, a devoted mother, grandmother and sister, was called to be with our Lord and Savior on August 29th at the age of 75. Born on November 7th, 1949, Ruth was the daughter of Earl and Beatrice Sears Kiser.
Ruth grew up in Osage and Kay Counties graduating from Ponca City high school in 1968. From an early age, she carried a passion for learning and a gift for sharing that passion with others. On June 22, 1968, she married the love of her life Phillip Kizer in Ponca City, OK. After marriage they began their lives together in Del City, Ok where they had 2 daughters Rebecca and Christel.
Ruth was a woman of strength and endless compassion. As a wife, she shared a steadfast love and partnership with Phil. As a mother, she poured her heart into raising her family with unwavering dedication, wisdom and faith. To her extended family and friends, she was a source of kindness, counsel and grace.
Ruth was employed by the Mid-Del school district serving as a teacher, counselor and principal. After retiring from Mid-Del and moving back to Webb City, Ruth decided she wasn’t finished teaching. She taught 5th grade at Shidler Elementary for a few more years. She dedicated her career to teaching. Guiding countless students with patience, wisdom and encouragement. Her impact in the classroom will forever extend beyond academics.
Ruth truly enjoyed family time – she loved trying to fit 30 people around her kitchen table, where they could “eat more and feel worse”. She also liked reading, writing, fishing, boating and riding the motorcycle with Phil. She also enjoyed being a Pastors wife. She loved and adored her church family at the Webb City Church of God.
Ruth is survived by her Husband of 57 years Phillip Kizer. Daughters: Rebecca Scott of Tulsa, OK and Christel Collins & husband Mike of OKC, OK. Grandchildren: Robert Kizer and wife Viola of OKC, OK. Ryan Cummings and fiancé Alora Hendry of Shidler, OK. Randy Cummings and wife Emilee of Enid, OK. Carlee Collins and Carson Collins both of OKC, OK. and numerous great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers and a sister. Jim Kiser and wife Bonnie of Oregon. Charles Ray Kiser and wife Cindy of Tryon, OK. Earlene Parker and husband Melvin of Carthage, MO and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth has been preceded in death by her parents.
Ruth’s legacy will live on – in her family, her friends, her students and all who were blessed to have known her.
