Ruth Alma Krantz

Ruth Alma Krantz, 81, of Palatka passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024, at HCA Florida Putnam Hospital following a brief illness.
A native of Macon, GA, she had been a resident of Palatka since 1952, coming from Georgia. Ruth was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She taught at Hillcrest Baptist Academy, Hollister Christian Academy and also did homeschooling.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and in her leisure time enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting and sewing. She also enjoyed crafting and along with her friend Sue Abercrombie, owned R&S Crafts. Ruth cherished time spent with her family especially around the holidays.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Krantz Sr.; two daughters, Shirley Hornung, and Brenda Lee French; a son, Earl E. "Eddie" Krantz Jr.; her parents, Willie B. McKinnon Sr., and Lee Alma McKinnon; and a granddaughter, Christina Ruth Markum.
Ruth is survived by 10 children, Cindy Clark, Vicky Dennis (Steve), Robbie Johnson (Sherry), Shane Looney, Tammy Plymel (Chuck), Crystal Krantz, Danny Krantz (Jaime), Russell Krantz, Gregory Krantz, and Blake Krantz; a brother, Willie B. McKinnon Jr. (Roberta); two sisters, Joanne Nedelsky (Mike), Betty Smith (Earl); 17 grandchildren, Hope, Barbie (Rich), Brandon, Timothy (Racquel), Shannon (Cody), Cody, Shaley (Austin), Sunni (Alex), Magen (Cody), Shelby (Brian), Kaiden, Daniel, Zachary, Breah, Brendan, Justin, and Billy; 37 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Betty Farmer, Cecelia Hale, Mickey Burnham and Sue Abercrombie.
Services celebrating Ruth's life will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Willie B. McKinnon Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery (East). The family will receive friends Sunday from 6–8 p.m. at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
