Ruth M. McClister

Ruth M. McClister Ruth M. McClister, 98, of Hamburg, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp. She was the wife of William J. McClister, who died January 24, 1992. Born in Albany Twp., she was the daughter of the late Nevin I. and Minerva (Miller) Hemerly. Ruth was a 1941 graduate of Slatington High School. She worked as a weaver for the Kutztown Rug Mill. Ruth was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hamburg. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star #336, Kutztown. Ruth enjoyed attending the German festivals in Barnesville; going to Knoebel’s Grove and riding the Phoenix; doting on her canine companion “Jackey”; and spending time with her adopted family, The Leibenspergers. She was known as one of the members of the “Bench Bunch” on S. Fourth Street in Hamburg. Ruth is survived by her adopted families: The Parr’s, Kennedy’s, Klokis’ and Leibensperger’s; as well as many other friends. Ruth’s family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Laurel Center for the compassionate care given to her. Services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in New Bethel Cemetery, Albany Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Saturday 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm.
