Ruth (King) Meserve, of Hampden, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her home. Born in Sutton, Massachusetts, on September 20, 1930, Ruth was the daughter of the late Walter and Hazel (Davison) King. She was a proud graduate of Sutton High School and later attended trade school in Worcester. Ruth dedicated over 49 years as a sales associate with Avon Cosmetics, where she built lasting relationships with her customers and community. Outside of work, she enjoyed many hobbies, including knitting, crocheting, counted cross stitching and playing tennis. Ruth was an honorable mention in the Sears National Baby Contest of 1934 and also belonged to the National Grange for 25 years. Ruth had a particular love for riding her motorcycle and spending time outdoors, especially camping with family and friends. One of her proudest accomplishments was being honored as Citizen of the Year by the Hampden Lions Club, a recognition of her kindness, generosity, and community spirit. In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Meserve, who passed away in 2022; her brother, William King; and her sisters, Gertrude Lacey and Virginia Kozlowski. She is lovingly survived by her two devoted children, Lois Meserve of Hampden and Allen Meserve and his wife Cindy of Monson; her cherished granddaughter, Charlene Meserve, and her partner, Ahkiel Thompson of Agawam; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply. Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield. Ruth will be remembered for her warmth, determination, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
