Ruth Mordue Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bross & Spidle Funeral Home & Cremation Services & Monuments - Excelsior Sp on Jul. 30, 2024.
Ruth F. Mordue, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024, at the age of 98.
Born to Farris and Ada Wilson, she leaves behind her son, Rich and his wife Susan; grandchildren, Lisa Eller, Diedre (Octavius) Morris, Darren (Amy) Taylor, Cristin Smith, Patrick (Ellie) Mordue; great grandchildren, Brennen (Tori) Eller, Macy (Hunter) Clarkson, Maia Moriarty, Jena (Reid) Loganbill, Mady Smith, Natalie Taylor, Jack and Rosie Mordue; and great-great grandson Collin Eller.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Bill Mordue. They would often be seen on the dance floor at many events. She was also preceded in death by sister, Louise O'Dell; brother, Farris Wilson; granddaughter, Colleen Maidment; and daughter, Vicki Bolin.
Ruth graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1944. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an avid vegetable gardener most of her life. She was a great cook who was always ready to feed you. She baked breads, pies, and cakes from scratch on a regular basis, but she was best known for her pies. She was an excellent seamstress who made many of her own clothes through the years. She took up oil painting in her 60s and surprised us with her natural talent for it. Many of her paintings were proudly displayed on her walls. She loved to play bridge and was quietly very competitive. Ruth was always ready to drop everything if she was needed. She was beloved by many and will be missed.
